Spring is in the Air

I am getting my art and studio ready for the 2012 studio tour for the first two weekends in May, where hundreds of art enthusiasts come in to see how and what it is I do, that I refer to as "work".

Boulder Artist Cheryl Whitehall is my gues artist.  This is called "A Meeting of Parliament"

This winter I took a face sculpting class from Boulder Artist Carolyn Douglas.  I didn't realize how hard it would be to make the human face.  It was great to learn from such a wonderful artist.

I am working on this Frida piece.  she need color and jewelry...hopefully before the studio tour!

I still have to put the finishing touches on my virgin piece.  Again...hopefully before the studio tour

Friends get together one a week, and coach eachother through the painting process.  mostly it is reminding us when to put the paint brush down!  it is hard to know when to walk away

But, I am loving the whole experience...

Painting a series based on very old playing cards from my Korean ancestors.

In the last get-together we all painted these little 5 x 5 canvases for the EBCA fund raiser event.  these are for sale in the gallery for $40, and all proceeds go to the organization.

but of course, I try not to get too distracted with all those other art projects.  I also became certified as a Precious Metals Clay Instructor, so I can begine giving workshops again this may

I am spending many hours in my studio, making jewelry for the holidays...these images adorn  my walls, and beckon me to spend some time with paint and paper...maybe after the holidays....

 
I am preparing to teach classes again in PMC.  I love teaching artists how to play in clay, and have their very own pieces of fine silver jewlery to wear and gift.

 

Art Play date

I could not bring down my tools, so I am painting....a group of artists get together at eachothers homes, and the host picks the topic or project...this was "Things with Wings"...
