We had a nice opening on January 15th. After closing the gallery for 2 weeks to paint, and bring in new artists and new art, we celebrated with champagne and chocolate.
New Spring colors for the walls
And bright new colors for the main gallery, which remind me of the colors of Mexico. I remembered how art just pops when there is color on the wall, so I infused color into the gallery
Taking advise from my painters, who are experts at color application
My new studio even got a facelift, since it looked dull once the gallery was painted. I moved my studio from the spacious garage to this room off the gallery in order to interract with the public while I worked. what a perfect set-up.
New artist, Arabella Tattershall creates her work from iron and found objects. this is a 2 dimensional bird, cut from iron, holding acorns in her mouth. The heart totem, made from stacked clay pieces...
Arabella's Face sculptures, which float away from the wall, causing a beautiful shadow effect when the sun shines through the window onto the wall.
This sculpting is above the door, and is an iron branch, which powder coated iron leaves, and a hand cast resin bird (by Arabella)
Arabella makes a series of "birds on a wire", with 1, 2 or 3 birds. all of which are in the gallery...
outdoor garden stakes with small colorful birds
This garden stake is an iron leaf by arabella, with a whimsical bird, sculpted from clay by Jennifer Rudkin, a Rabid Rabits Galeria artist
Kim Dufford is a new artist, who creates whimsical clay sculptures.
This one depicting friendship...
A colorful bouquet that will not fade
Mitch berg is a Santa Fe artist, who has a collection of beautiful kiln glass fish, that are wired with found metals and objects.
Angelo Ambrosia, a local glass artist has a collection of galss bulbs, which are for year round enjoyment as light catchers in your windows
Heart pendants fill the cases for valentines gifts
A content cat waits for adoption
Theresa Beckemeyer painted this "protector of the Tomatoes"
THis small and beautiful painting is from an image she saw while visiting Italy this summer
Stephen Remmert created this 4 piece oil painting, which he intended to be stacked on a bookshelf. here one piece is suspended from the wall, and the remaining stacked on a glass shelf
Furtive Glance by Stephen Remmert. beautiful and haunting.
Stephany Hilvitz created this wonderful series of small paintings with Monarch Butterfly images
New work by a gallery favorite, Jennifer Rudkin, titled, "He Has My Eyes"
This lion displays his Purple heart, which would be a great valentines gift
This Beautiful mobile is by artist, Jay Jones, who gets his inspiration from Alexander Calder
This smaller mobile hangs in the sun room, and the leaves slowly spiral creating color and movement
This beautiful purple bunny is by artist, Katy Diver, and is a carving on clay, which is then painted with acrylic
Jayne Marshall continues to create these
We added a new line of t-shirts by Coin 1804, which are two artists out of California

We have had very cold weather and snow, which adds a new dimmension to our yard art!
so the beautiful plants that sat on the porch all summer have been relocated to the sunny entry...
Where this sleepy pooch day dreams amongs the fallen petals
Theresa Beckemeyer was our featured artist for this show. this is a portion of this work, which she calls "Flirting".
This painting is titled "Telluride", and was painted after a visit in the mountains.
Colleen Hoerner's work is vibrant and magical. this is an oil pasted called "Day Dreaming"
This case holds work by artists Travis Ogden, with his forged and fold formed silver bracelets, and Beth Merkel, who uses etched and rolled brass and silver to create reversable pendants, and gorgeous pins
One and two winged heart pins make great gifts. this reversable pendant has silver on the other side, and can be slipped on your own chain
our kitty angel waits for a home on your lapel or favorite sweater
Randall Sampsons work has been a hit. here is another one of his pieces, titled "Lucky Rabbit"
Icabunny waits for a home, while holding beautiful flowers, which reminds us of warmer days!
These vibrant, hand cut, welded and painted flowers are the last batch we will be getting in, as the artist has decided to retire and move to a warmer climate
Babette dreams of her "destiny" which is to fly among the stars
Jane uses old sweaters and fibers to create these incredible hand-sewn ponchos
This beautiful patchwork is perfect for those days where you do not want to lug around a heavy coat, but over a sweater with some leggings
This Himilayan cat by Jewnnifer Rudkin sports some gorgeous blue eyes
Jennifer came in during our opening, and painted the sneaker on this baby a sporty shade of purple
Carol Garnand brought in beautiful silk scarves in new colors for the season. the green and purple piece is a silk & Alpaca felted piece, which is gorgeous...

And this fun piece, which is also oil on board, which is an abstract Rhino.
Leslie Weibel is a new artist for the gallery, with photographs on canvas. Her images reflect her love and passion of woking with her horses, as she is a professional rider, and lives on a ranch. This is an image of a wild mustang, taken in the foothills of Wyoming, where they are currently in the process of "relocating" these beautiful animals.
These "Prayer Flags", are created by artist Robyn Churchill Rathweg. She uses block printing techniques on re-scycled fabrics. they are perfectly priced at $30 for holiday gifts, and there are 6 different themes of flags to chose from.

Sacred Spaces III
Opening Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 11 a.m. til 3 p.m.
Show runs from Sunday, September 18 through Sunday, November 6, 2011.
With tragic world events and the pace of every day challenging us to remain positive, keep-up or step aside - Our sanity, balance and humanity may hinge on retreating to our own Sacred Space.
What would that space resemble to you?
Please join us at our Opening for the Sacred Spaces III, Sunday, September 18th from 11 a.m. til 3 p.m., where we asked our artist to create art with this very idea in mind. We have created a special altar and all are invited and encouraged to contribute to our Sacred Space. Whether it be a photograph in honor of a lost love one, a note of thanks for good fortune, a request for intervention in the outcome of an event, or a message of Peace, we welcome your contribution to our public art installation. Everything you contribute can be returned to you at the end of our show on November 6th.
the altar in the entry holds messages mementos from artists, and awaits contributions from gallery guests...
You can post your messages on the board behind the altar
A traditional altar for "Dia de la Muertos", has food items favored by loved ones we want to remember.

The days grow shorter, and the summer festivals wind down. This is a photo from Friday, August 26th, which was a beautiful warm (maybe a wee bit hot) summer evening, with Longmont celebrating with an art festival on main street, so we stayed open till 9 p.m.
The gallery has beautiful iron work in the front yard. this gate, featuring aspen trees with art glass leaves, is a by iron artist, Rusty Brockman, a local artist who made my gallery sign, and a beautiful iron jewelry case for the gallery. Rusty will custom design your very own gate, or beautiful stairway and railings. this piece is a collaborative piece, with glass artist. Angelo Ambrosia.
A painting by Stephany Hilvitz titled "Sanctuary", measures 32Hx24W, and is stunning piece due to the vibrant colors Stephany uses. This piece is an original mixed-media piece, with Stephany's original photographs used in her painting. $585
Monika Edgar returns with this beautiful oil painting, titled "solitary Journey". the piece is 29x29, unframed, but finished so that it does not require framing. Monika's imagery is in the realm of magical, and draws from her childhood growing up in Lithuania. $395
Susan Opfer creates beautiful wood block prints, double white matted, and framed. this piece is titled, "Night Time"....$256
Hanlie Wessels created a series of African Animal pieces, drawing on her actual memory of these animals from her upbringing and life in South Africa. "Sunset Gaze", comes from her sighting of a male lion, sunning himself on the roadside, which really stuck with Hanlie because it is a very rare sighting. Oil painting, using a pallet knife. Measuring 14Wx11H...$585
"Band of Brothers", another oil measuring 11Wx6H, shows three cheetahs running across the South African horizon. Hanlie does not let the oil dry on her work, prior to completing the piece, as she wants to convey the movement of the animal and the background to be fluid. This piece is captivating, and fits perfectly into that one spot for which you have been looking for a small, but powerful painting. $535.
"Me, Myself and I", by Linda Gleitz measures 22Wx29H, unframed, so you can read the message, painted on the outside edges of her canvas. Linda's imagery is folkloric and magical. this photo shows only part of the painting, as the upper half of the canvas shows a beautiful angel, hovering over the sleeping woman. $350.
This smaller piece by Linda, "Venus", measuring 10Wx10H, again is unframed, revealing the written message on the outside borders of the canvas. $200.
Peter Steele brought in several new and beautiful, photographic images, printed on glass, and designed to either be hung in a window, or resting on a shelf, like this piece. this piece is semi-translucent, so that it equally vibrant without direct sunlight behind it. though it "glows", when placed with a direct lighting source behind it. 8Wx10H, red wood frame...$60
This is a "vintage" sculpture piece by Jennifer Rudkin. This beautiful fountain was created over 15 years ago for a Portland Gallery, and was recently returned to Jennifer, as they "found" it tucked away in storage. Jennifer does not make fountains anymore, so this piece is extra special. I love it! It has the most gentle gurgling water sound, as the water finds its way down 3 levels into the holding vessel. The beauty of this piece is that the pump is completely hidden. $650
"Push-me, Pull-you", another Jennifer creation that makes people burst into giggles..seriously!
And then they start looking at the shelf holding all her miniature creations, and the laughter allong with the pointing gets louder...these pieces are perfect for gifts, at $18....
now the cooing starts....followed by even more laughter
then you start searching for "your" dog amongst the mini-sculptures. this one looks just like Phoebe...
This funny little guy is also a bowl, which holds treasures....rocks, candy....rock candy
One of Katy Divers latest ceramic plaques, hand carved and painted with acrylics, with my favorite image....rabbit...13wx9H..$58
A Rita Vali vase, measuring 9wx8H, with texture and writing..$58
I am happy to be joined by a new artist, Sascha Immerman. Sascha has just returned to the world of art, after taking a couple years off. This is a poster of her work from 30 years ago, which is an original Lithograph print. Sascha owned her own Lithograph printer, and would create up to 10 prints at a time of one image. This series was of aprons worn by her, an artist, and her mother, a homemaker. 20Wx27H, $150.
the second of three prints we carry by Sascha Immerman...we also have a series of greeting cards, with the aprons, and her other original art works
Kathleen Gatliffe, is a local metal-smith artist, who works primarily in Enamel and copper. Here is a few of her pins. Kathleen also creates beautiful flower pendants and enamel earrings

New Jewelry by Rabid Rabits Studios. Utilizing sterling silver, copper, and beer bottle tops!
We are proud to be showing a new artist for our gallery, Potter Mary Fischer, who's studio is in Dripping Springs, Texas. I stumbled on Mary while strolling through the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, which is a yearly, world-class festival in Downtown Denver. Mary's work is representational of her rural roots. She works in white clay, and finishes her pieces with photo transfers onto wet clay, slip and iron oxide washes, to get a muted antique feel to her work.
A vegetable stand, and a yellow house, which, when you lift off the roof, becomes a great little box for hiding mad money, or a decorative storage piece.
A beautiful Grainery stands about 18" high, and about 6" in diameter. The finish makes you think you are looking at a piece of corrugated metal, like the original builsings.
Little House on the Prarie, comes to mind with this beautiful little cottage.
A beautiful, peaceful, American town of the past
Rebecca Roberts is another incredible potter from Austin, Texas. It is a small world, in that I met Rebecca over a year ago, when a friend took me to her studio while we visited Austin, Texas. When I talked to Mary at the Cherry Creek Festival, she was good friends with Rebecca. Here are some of Rebecca's sculptural pieces. Her work can be described as elegant, yet rustic and earthy, with great texture. Here is a sculpture, that when picked up, emmits a soft rattle sound.
A couple more pieces from Rebecca's collection.
Tom Cannon is a local, Boulder area, artist, who studied in Japan for many years, learning the art of Japanese Folk Pottery. This is a beautiful example of his raku vases.
Tom recently had the opportunity to take a workshop at the University of Colorado, where he created this series of Nigerian Natal sculputures. His inspiration comes from the clay sculptings that adorn the graves of Nigeria.
Another piece from His Nigerian Natal series. this piece is open at the top, similar to a vase.
Jennifer Rudkin is a local artist, who is a constant in the Rabid Rabits Galeria. For this show, she brought in this beautiful mother and baby Elephant sculpture. Her range of imagery never ceases to amaze me.
Katy Diver creates these beautiful owl sculptures for your garden, or your home.

It is certainly difficult times, as gas prices keep going up, and news on the economic front keep us eating at home more, and spending less when we go out. Somehow we managed to survive "The Rapture". What we do as artists is to keep looking for inspiration, and creating art which makes people stop and reflect...this piece is by artist, Anthony Grant, and is a 47" x 47". It is a spectacular piece, and is a symbol of good fortune.
Stephanie Hilvitz, has created a series of small, whimsical and AFFORDABLE block prints. this is one of her totem pieces, which she was inspired to create after taking a pottery class from ceramics artist, Katy Diver. Maybe that is something on your new years resolution list that you can pursue....take an art class....be inspired!
more work by Rita Vali....who just had a big birthday. Happy birthday Rita!

Outside the gallery, spring brings with it garden totems and metal flowers
a small garden totem for your flower pots....5 parrots stacked on top of eachother
hand-made steel flowers stay blooming all year in your garden....birds by artists Caroline Douglas and Suzanne Pak
Artist submitted work around the idea of "Awakening". Barbara Cargill, a local artist created a fiber triptych, which takes us through three seasons...
Fall...the trees go through an "awakening" when the weather transitions from summer to fall, bringing brilliant color to our landscapes
only to re-awaken in the spring...this piece was a different approach to Barbara's work, as her usual medium is acrylic paint.....this piece sold as it was being installed for this show...always a good sign!
Ann McCaffrey, a Longmont glass artist, who joined us for this show, taught art in our public schools for 30 years...this piece is called black, and is mounted on a beautiful slab of granite.
I would describe Anne's approach to glass as glass collage, as some of her elements are fused, while others are not. creating a very multi-dimensional effect with her sculpture
a vase of glass flowers that will never fade or lose their blooms..
This sculpture is a vase of fused flowers which greets you with a magical vibrancy
Willi Eggerman features her latest functional art, in soft hues of blue, green and earth tones. an orchid has found a beautiful home in this vase (sparrow by Caroline Douglas)
Willi's vase awaits the summer garden blooms of June and July...
The subject matter for this show brought in such electric, vivid colors and imagery...
Colleen Hoerner, an artist from Boulder, Colorado, works in pastels, and more of Willi Eggerman's work of hand painted vases that do not require flowers
Theresa Beckemeyer created an aray of small 5 x 7 original gauche paintings, which will brighten any corner for $75. an incredible art deal. They are perfect for adding interest and color to a wall, or even unframed on a shelf with your favorite collectibles.
Theresa's potted flower piece, tucked in among Willi's ichabana vases, and porcelain vessels.
A pair of apples, by Theresa...with an Icha-bunny and an icha-birdy flower vase
A Rainy-day depiction by Anthony Grant. this piece is striking, and will look great on a wall needing a large piece to brighten the room. it measures 47 x 47", framed.
Wiley Ware shows his brilliance in these acrylic abstract works...which appear to float on the wall
these pieces look great together, but would be equally magnificent on their own
Susan Crouse creates her pieces in encaustic, which allows for incredible texture and color.
Karen Divine, a local artist, who's medium is photography, adds an element of magic and mystery to her work by creating multiple layers in photoshop, and in this case, adding an encaustic finish to her pieces, creating a dream-like effect. she recently won her 5th international award for this series...
Nancy Patterson joins us as new artist with her newest sculptural work which is whimsical...,
colorful...,
and just plain fun.. a coil placed in just the right spot makes these sculptures move, as if swimming or taking the hook..
Cindy Hayes is a jewelry artist, but also creates fabulous wall hangings from silk and wool fibers and found objects. this piece is titled, "Nest", and features one beautiful egg cradled in the fibers
Nancy Nagel, a local glass artist, has become well known for her incredible glass lampwork creations. These two, titled "Stickle-bird" and "Quail", are equally beautiful holding your Chanel perfume, or just sitting on your dresser.
Rital Vali created beautiful ceramics, that make wonderful display pieces but are also functional. Here a vase caries her thoughts, stamped into the top of the vase, as well as flowers, and a bowl waits for a party occassion....beauty and functionality!
new birdie pots by artist, Suzanne Pak
artist made, pendant jewelry, just perfect for summer wear
"One night, as I lay dream'n, I spread my wings and flew amongst the angels...." stamped into the back of this necklace, by artist, Patti Burton...of Rabid Rabits Studio. the fish reminds you to "don't worry, be happy!"
Ancient glass beads woven on silk.....opals, turquoise and ammonite woven and set into silver
Iron ore tigers eye, turquoise, gaspeite & opal......fine silver & 24K gold cross on a strand of beautiful black tourmaline
"Harmony" cross hangs from 5 rings of sterling, Baroque pearl, labradorite, Pink Quartz & Peridot
Two baby owls are capured in this photograph, and then printed onto glass by artist Peter Steele. Two baby owls by ceramic artist, Katy Diver join the owl party
Katy Diver's "Blue Chicken", would look great inside or outside
Stephany Hilvitz has fun, re-purposed art, which is perfect for your kitchen...after all, they are called her kitchen goddess series...
We added a few pieces of clothing. beautiful hand-painted silk scarves from Carol Garnand
The scarves are cut-out silk patterned, and had painted the most luscious colors....light enough for spring and summer wear, and perfect for fall and winter when you need to add color to your pallette. not just scarves, but summer shawls too.
I love these skirts. they are wrap-around sari skirts, made from silks and rayon.... two layers of different colors and patterns make them interesting and versatile. More vintage silk sari skirts to come throughout the summer, and all for just $30 each. these skirts can be worn 16 different ways, from skirt to shirt to dress...seriously great for traveling.
don't forget about the gallery-mascots-in-training. no, they are not always in here to greet you, due to their propensity to dash out the door as you enter! we are working on that...they do hold down the fort after hours... more art later, we are seriously tired!
